Types of Mediation
Child & Family Mediation Services
Child Arrangements Mediation
Research shows that separate living arrangements do not negatively impact children. Child experts believe that children can cope with separation providing their parents cope. What can be damaging to children is the conflict between the adults.
Our professional family mediation services help parents to focus on the children and how conflict can feel for them.
With this in mind we can help you to make arrangements for the children following separation. This can be arrangements regarding contact, maintenance, holidays, schooling etc.
Parenting Plans
A parenting plan is a plan that encourages co-parenting. It is a plan that looks at the arrangements for the children regarding contact, schooling, holidays, decision making and much more. It also helps improve communication and trust, allowing the family to handle future issues with minimal emotional impact.
The parenting plan looks at similar issues that a child arrangements order in court might look at, but isn’t legally binding. Parents do have the option to make the plan legally binding if they wish to (*additional charges apply for legally binding order). Separated Parenting Courses (SPIP)
Both parents attend the four-hour Separated Parents Information Programme on separate days. It looks at the impact of conflict on children through group discussions, observations and role play. The course also focuses on how to improve communication and on the emotional impact of separation.
This can be a really useful course when combined with child mediation services.
Listening to Young People
The voice of the child is becoming more important in mediation. We understand that while children do not make the decisions, they still want their wishes and feelings heard.
Our legally privileged separation mediation service ensures that court proceedings cannot use any discussed details. It is a chance for parents to hear how separation is affecting their children.
The service is confidential except for the usual safe guarding guidelines. This means that we only feed back to parents what the children allow. Even if you choose not to share their feedback, this may be your child’s first time expressing their feelings.
Introducing New Partners
Introducing a new partner is a major concern for separated parents.
Amity Mediation offers guidance on essential considerations.
We also facilitate joint meetings between parents and new partners.
These meetings help you create plans to minimise the emotional impact on the family.
Financial Mediation Services
Financial Mediation for Married Couples
Our financial mediation process matches the court’s Form E financial disclosure format.
However, mediation is considerably quicker and cheaper than court.
Even without an agreement, documented mediation still saves clients time and money.
Full financial disclosure builds a complete picture of marital finances.
We draft this disclosure using evidence of each participant’s income, assets, and liabilities.
It also outlines the future needs of both parties.
We use this data to draft the Open Financial Statement for negotiations.
This working document provides an easy-to-follow visual plan of all finances.
Once you reach an agreement, we draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
This document details your agreements and clearly shows how you will divide your finances.
Financial Services for Non Married Couples
While the process remains the same for married and unmarried couples, unmarried couples only must disclose jointly owned assets.
Unmarried couples can voluntarily discuss other assets, such as income, to help determine a child maintenance figure.
Divorce Mediation Packages
Providing agreement is reached in mediation, we can go ahead and manage all formalities of the divorce from the financial order to the Decree Absolute to the arrangements for the children.
Individual Counselling
Counselling Services
If you are struggling to deal with the end of your relationship and need help to move on, we can offer counselling to help you to adjust to life after separation.
