Frequently Asked Questions

Does Klarna affect my credit score?

For “Pay in 3” and “Pay in 30 Days,” Klarna performs a “soft” credit check. This does not affect your credit score and isn’t visible to other lenders. For longer-term Financing, a hard credit check may be required.

What happens if I miss a payment?

If an automatic payment fails, Klarna will usually try again a few days later. If you still don’t pay, they may charge a late fee (typically £5 per installment in the UK, capped at 25% of the order value).

Beyond the fees, your ability to use Klarna in the future will be restricted, and your credit score may be negatively impacted. For long-term arrears, the debt may be passed to a collection agency.

Can I “snooze” or extend a payment due date?

Yes, Klarna offers an “Extend due date” feature in their app. If you realize you can’t make a payment on time, you can usually push the date back once per order (often by 10 days) at no extra cost. To do this, go to the Payments tab in the app, select your order, and tap “Payment options” to find the extension button. It’s always better to do this before the payment is due to avoid late markers.
